Why sand
Two on the court. Every ball is hers.
With two players a side she touches the ball far more than indoors, in every skill, and she has to read the whole court. The sand builds the legs and the endurance that carry straight back to indoor.
Beach is a high school sport in St. Johns County now, so it is a second way onto a school team, and a growing path into college volleyball.
Younger players start on the grass: grass volleyball classes in Nocatee and Fruit Cove, grades 4 to 8.
