How placement works.

Coach Andor watches every player at the tryout and places her himself. The site never promises a team.

  • Age group first, by birth date.USA Volleyball sets the age group by birth date, July 1 to June 30, not by grade. A player who was held back, or who is young for her grade, can be in a different group than her classmates. The dates are in the table below.
  • Then the level.Local plays the tournament schedule close to home. Regional adds USAV and AAU events around the Southeast. Elite is the top team in an age group. Academy is the U15-1 track, indoor and beach.
  • Then the season, by level.Local teams run August to May; Regional November to May; Elite and the Academy November to June. Every level practices twice a week at the facility, two hours of volleyball plus thirty minutes in the strength room, with a life lesson at the end of every practice.
  • Three courts, so rosters close. Each team has the spots three courts can hold. When a roster is full it closes, which is why the tryout is registered ahead and not walk-up.

Girls in grades 9 to 12, moderate to advanced, on the public sand courts at Nocatee Fields, 707 Little River Road, Ponte Vedra. Two players on the court means she touches the ball far more than indoors, and the sand builds the legs and the endurance that carry straight back to indoor.

Beach is now a high school sport locally, so it is a second way onto a school team. The club is launching a high school club beach team that plays the beach tournament circuit around Northeast Florida. A tryout or Coach Andor’s approval comes first; call him.

Which group is she in?

Her birth date decides it, not her grade. These are the USA Volleyball dates for the 2026-27 season.

A player born after the U11 dates can play up into U11. If she was held back or is young for her grade, go by the birth date. Not sure? Call Coach Andor with her birth date and he will tell you her group.

Coach Andor answers.

The questions parents ask him most. Tap one to open it.

Which team will she make?

“I can’t tell you before I’ve seen her play. I watch the tryout, then I place every player myself: age group first, then the level where she will get the most touches and the most game time.”

She has never played club. Is twelve too late?

“No. Most of our players are in their first year of club volleyball. We have teams at four levels in every age group, so there is a place for a player who is starting now.”

What does the tryout cost, and what happens if she doesn’t make it?

“$40, registered ahead of time. If she isn’t placed, she has a plan either way: the youth classes on the grass, and the next tryout. Nobody gets lost.”

What does the season look like?

“It depends on the team. Local teams run August to May. Regional runs November to May, and Elite and the Academy November to June, because they include more events. Every level practices twice a week at the facility: two hours on the court and thirty minutes in the strength room.”

She was held back a year. Which group is she in?

“Her birth date decides it, not her grade. USA Volleyball sets the age groups from July 1 to June 30, so a player who is in fifth grade but was born in early 2015 plays U12, not U11. Tell me her birth date when you call and I will tell you her group.”

What if she makes her middle school team?

“Good. That is what we train for. Call me and we will work out how her school season fits with her club team.”

Can I ask you first?

“Call or text me at (310) 435-5840. I answer my own phone.”
